Septic Care

Septic Care & Maintenance

Corey’s Pumping Services has a few tips to help maintain your septic system to ensure you never run into an emergency.

  • Have your tank inspected and pumped on a regular basis, generally every 3 to 5 years
  • Don’t flush or pour chemical cleaners down the drain (bleach, cleaners, pesticides)
  • It’s best to dispose of feminine hygiene products and other toiletries in the garbage can instead of flushing, as they can clog your leaching bed and pipes
  • Be careful what goes on top of and around your septic outside – plant only grass on your bed to help prevent erosion
  • Avoid planting trees and shrubs near your leaching bed, as roots can damage your system
  • Do not drive over your septic system
  • Conserve water and spread out water use so you don’t overload your system
